EPIPHYLLUM ANGULIGER

or

DISOCACTUS ANGULIGER

photo 1/6

This botanical species has deeply lobed stems, with a more or less round or triangular shape.

The clone photographed above was recently offered to me and had not bloomed yet in my collection. But another clone bloomed for the first time in my greenhouse in 2015.

I followed the blossoming of several blooms using a succession of six photographs.

Epiphyllum anguliger grows as an epiphyte in Mexico in the areas of Nayarit, Jalisco, Guerrero, Oaxaca, at an altitude ranging between 1100m and 1800m (3600 to 5900 ft).

Its blooms are delicately scented and have a long tube. The inner petals are white, the outer petals are yellow lemon or golden yellow. The blooms measure 15 to 18cm long (5.9 to 7 in) and have a diameter of 10 to 13cm (3.9 to 5.1 in).

Epiphyllum anguliger is called now Disocactus anguliger (source: Willdenovia 46 - 2016) following DNA tests for a phylogenetic taxonomy.
