Disocactus macranthus (photo : Alain Laroze) (photo 4)

Epiphyllum x 'George's Favorite' (photographs 1 and 2) is the cross-breeding between Disocactus macranthus (botanical winter blooming species as the mother) and a hybrid Epiphyllum called 'Christmas Red' as the father, this Epiphyllum is also a winter blooming one. The latter is resulting from Disocactus eichlamii as the mother (botanical early spring blooming species).

Epiphyllum X 'Tiny Flame' (photo 3) is the cross-breeding of the winter blooming Epiphyllum X 'Vive Rouge' (as the mother) with the already quoted Disocactus macranthus (as the father).

Disocactus macranthus and Epiphyllum X 'George's Favorite' were found among the ancestors of other Epiphyllum hybrids which bloomed during this 2013/2014 winter in my collection.

But there was another interesting ancestor that I hadn't yet noticed.       >>>Next page 5/13
