CHAPTER 2

Cutting period.

_______________________________

Cuttings can be made all year round. However, the best time is spring or early summer, as this is the period when temperatures are sufficiently high and there is plenty of light.

If you make cuttings in winter, you will need a place that is bright during the day and permanently warm (about 20°C). Indeed, for the root system to form and develop, cuttings need heat, light and humidity.

These conditions can be easily met without accessories from around May onwards in France.

A shady corner of the garden or yard will be a very suitable place to start your cuttings.

In winter, things get a little more complicated: you'll have to grow your cuttings flowers inside your house, behind the curtains of a bright window. Using a horticultural lamp to simulate long days will be appreciated by cuttings even if it is not absolutely necessary.

The pots should also be placed on a lukewarm support.

(Pots wrapped in freezer bags are seedlings placed in high humidity to promote germination).

I will not discuss winter cutting further in this article.
