PHOTO SHOOTING TECHNIQUES

Example 1 : three successive pictures of Schlumbergera X 'Primavera'

Schlumbergera x 'Primavera' : picture 1.

diaphragm aperture: F/32

exposure time: 1/10s

illumination: natural light (cloudy weather with some sunbeams)

comment: It's an example of what not to do: the exposure time is too long and thus we have a blurred image because the camera moved during shooting. And even if the image were clear ........

Schlumbergera x 'Primavera' : picture 2.

diaphragm aperture: F/32

exposure time: 1/25s

illumination: natural light (cloudy weather with some sunbeams as for the preceding one) + reflective mirror

comment: It's clear, a small ray of sunshine reflected by a mirror allowed a shorter exposure time.

However, it doesn't satisfy me because I find it flat and the color is not really beautiful; thus it's necessary to improve......

Schlumbergera x 'Primavera' : picture 3.

diaphragm aperture: F/32

exposure time: 1/60s

illumination: natural light (cloudy weather with some rays of sunshine as for the two previous ones) +  off-camera flash which illuminates quite vertically from bottom to top.

comment: The picture is clear, it has more relief than the previous one and the white colour  is whiter, thanks to the flash.

I regard it as the best of the three.
