We are therefore in the VP FARMS plantation, which markets fruit including Dragon Fruits.

The plants are covered with flowers. They are in perforated pots, which allows more efficient watering and feeding.

 

One more image for the pleasure of contemplating the profusion of flowers.

The plants have been pruned and the stems removed are visible on the ground.

 

 

Morning bees glean the flowers. Because hybrids are self-sterile, different hybrids are planted side by side so that fertilization occurs when bees move from one plant to another. Manual cross-pollination increases the effectiveness of breeding.

The visit ends with the souvenir photo of my two companions, on the left Manuel Dubon, Crop Manager of the AVP FARMS  and on the right Edgar Valdivia who coordinated my whole trip.

A few days later, during the Dragon Festival, I had the opportunity to see and taste many varieties of these fruits, whose season barely started, around the 20th of August. .......
