Disocactus anguliger (photo Emma Lindahl on Wikipedia)
This is an epiphytic botanical species native to Mexico, growing at altitudes of between 1100 and 1800 meters.
I can't give any cultivation advice, as I've never managed to keep it in my collection for long.
It blooms in autumn and the fragrant flowers are 17 to 20 cm long and 11 to 13 cm in diameter, thanks to the outer petals.
The flowers are therefore much larger than those of the two parents presented (criterion 1▲ not met),
but the flowering period is unusual (criterion 2▲ met).
It was used, as I said in my 2014 article, to create winter-flowering Epicactus.
The three plants I've just presented have been used to create Epicactus whose flowers meet criterion 1▲ (small, delicate, often fragrant flowers) and/or criterion 2▲ (unusual flowering period).
For this article, I've divided them into four groups:
GROUP 1: Some Paetz hybrids with a first name followed by the name Paetz (e.g. Epicactus 'Charlie Paetz').
GROUP 2: Epicactus 'Frühlingsxxxxxx' (example: 'Frühlingsanfang')
GROUP 3: Winter-flowering Epicactus created by Rudolf Heßing Herick, which were the subject of my 2014 article.
GROUP 4: Some isolated hybrids
