THE THREE "HISTORICAL" PARENTS (continuation)

2- Epicactus 'George's Favorite'

Collection and photo: Michel Combernoux

Photo 1 taken in February 2002

This is the champion of repeat-flowering Epicactus. Flowers can be seen almost all year round.

It was created by Wressey Cocke, famous for its 50th  crossbreeding, which produced magnificent double-flowered Epicactus.

Epicactus 'George's Favorite' also has small, delicate flowers, about the size of those of Disocactus macranthus.

We find criteria 1▲ and 2▲, which is not surprising, given the pedigree:

Epicactus x 'George's Favorite' (photos 1 and 2) is a cross of Disocactus macranthus (a winter-flowering botanical species as mother)

with an Epicactus called 'Christmas Red' as winter-flowering father. The latter is derived from Disocactus eichlamii as mother (winter-flowering botanical species).
