But sometimes things don't go as planned.
If you notice after a few weeks that a cutting is withering more and more, it may be too hot, but the root system may refuse to form.
You can then, when the substrate is dry, gently remove the roots to see if there are any roots. If so, put it back in place and wait a little longer. If not, replace the substrate by sand and gravel only and continue in this transition substrate, only mineral, which often got me out of trouble.
When the roots have formed (you still need to dig up to check), you will return to the initial substrate.
If, on the contrary, you notice that the cutting rots at the collar, remove it, cut it down to a healthy part (no orange colour in the central canals), then let it heal and repeat the cutting as before.
