And now that the cutting is planted, how do we take care of it?
It should be placed in a bright and well-ventilated place, avoiding too much sun and extreme temperatures during the first weeks. A range of 15°C to 25°C seems to me to be suitable.
If the weather permits, put the cutting in the light shade of a tree, it will be very happy.
pots under a tree in a shady position.
In the beginning, say during the first month, dryness and rot should be avoided. So you have to dose the watering and spraying by observing the reactions of the cuttings. Sprays are necessary because the cutting does not yet have a root system for hydration. Root formation usually takes 3 to 4 weeks, but it may be much slower. I have known cuttings that have taken more than a year to root.
For good rooting, the substrate should be kept slightly moist at all times, but not too much. Do not leave a dish under the pot that retains a layer of water.
Rooting is usually indicated by the colour of the cutting, which turns green a little and eventually starts to grow. We can then say that the most delicate period has passed.
