CHAPTER 1
Climatical introduction.

My collection is located in France, in the Paris region, at about 48° North Latitude.

The proximity of the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf Stream gives my region an oceanic climate with temperate summers (although recent summers have been hotter and drier than previous ones).
The maximum summer temperature can rise to around 30°C.
Winters are not very bright with frequent grey weather and temperatures range from about -5°C at night to 15°C during the day.
This is only a rough estimate.
The characteristic that I notice most is (with some exceptions), a rather low level of sunshine.
Given this climate, I grow in a cold greenhouse (maintained at a minimum temperature of 8 to 10°C) from October to June,
and in my garden under trees from June to October.
