SCHLUMBERGERA RUSSELLIANA
(or ZYGOCACTUS)
(or CHRISTMAS CACTUS)
photo 3/9
taken on: 2016/02/23
This photograph is a close-up view of the buds, taken the same day as the previous one. We can see there is a newly developed bud with a length of 3mm as well as a larger bud which must have been born more than one week ago. This bud has a length of 2.5cm (1 in), ovary included. The shape of the ovary is ribbed with four angles (characteristic of Schlumbergera russelliana).
The small stem which is next to the large bud has a rounded form and has small bristles. It has a length of 5mm (0.2 in) to the utmost whereas the large stem has a length of approximately 15mm (0.6 in), which is small for a Schlumbergera.
How long will it be necessary to wait before the blossoming of the large bud?
