When the botanical species Schlumbergera orssichiana was discovered,

the two clones discovered were both virally infected,

and therefore impossible to cultivate sustainably.

Mrs Dolly Kölli then had the idea of sowing a fruit resulting from a

of a crossbreeding between the two infected clones.

This method of propagation does not transmit the viral infection,

so she obtained several uninfected clones.

All currently available Schlumbergera orssichiana come from clones of this sowing.

and its hybrids, link at the bottom of the Schlumbergera gallery.)
