In its original biotope, in Brazil, Hatiora herminiae grows as an epiphyte on Araucarias.

For several years I used to cultivate Hatiora herminiae with extreme growing difficulties. on its own roots with a very slow growth when I decided to ask a friend of mine to make a graft of it on Selenicereus, of which only a very small part can be seen on this photo. On this photo, the plant is the result of this graft of one stem, less than 1 cm length; the graft was made only two years ago and this year I had four blooms which even bore fruit. (two unripe fruits can distinctly be seen on the photograph.).

I think that the process of grafting is justified in these extreme cases.
