My purpose in this article is to bring some botanical information and some personal remarks (about cultivation) concerning Wittia amazonica.

The clone of Wittia amazonica which I have been cultivating for a long time.

HOW I GROW WITTIA AMAZONICA

In my collection I have been growing a clone of Wittia amazonica since 1996 i.e. approximately 12 years.(We are now in January 2009). This plant always fascinated me by its difficulty of cultivation (appearance of black and dry necroses almost each winter on some stems), as well as by the difficulty to obtain blooms,
since I only could observe the first blooms in spring 2008.

The other photographs of Wittia amazonica on my website are from cuttings of other clones which bloomed a few weeks after their entry in my collection and which survived (except one) only a few months.
