On November 17, i.e. only six days after the beginning of the operation, I received a hopeful message where I was told that :

The shortest and moderatly long stems have been straightening up, I have now the feeling that when softly touching them their central canal is hardening and that their whole carriage improved.”

“On the other hand, the longest stems are gradually fading and eventually fall.

That is when we understood that we had won, and that what came next was nothing but a question of time and patience.

Between two waterings, the pot absorbed 14 ounces of water, top and bottom water combined ; my friend had largely and rightly exceeded the quantities of water I had advised him to give !

These old hybrids of Schlumbergera truncata and Schlumbergera russelliana, already cultivated in France in the ‘40s have an outstanding resilience, far higher than that of the vast majority of the modern hybrids which sometimes suddenly dry out or rot for unknown reasons.
