I dedicate these pages to Mr Bernard Durou who told me one day, « Don’t forget, a desperate situation never exists. ».
Alain had a marvellous plant, but did not have a green thumb. This occured one year ago, in November 2010, the cold wind of winter had already come and Alain didn’t know what to do…
My friend Alain had always admired a plant patiently
cultivated by Lucette, his mother-in-law, a plant that had splendid red blooming.
He always had the image of this plant in his memory. Moreover, the plant in
question was a childhood memory of Sylvette, Alain’s wife. All this
to explain Alain’s attachment to the plant which we are going to talk
about.
What a wretched shame ! Alain thought that the plant was a «misery »
(in French, the plant ‘Tradescantia’ is commonly named «
misère » which means «misery») ; Alain’s family
gave the plant the same name. Actually, the plant was a cactus.
But Lucette fell sick and as she was unable to tend to her “misery”
which was actually a genuine wealth, the plant fell also seriously sick.
Then, Sylvette, Lucette’s daughter entrusted the plant to Alain, hoping
for a revival of this invaluable plant which was part of the family history.
And this is when the story actually started.
