A BIOTOPE OF SCHLUMBERGERA

My efforts were finally rewarded when I discovered, on the trunk and the branches of a tree, many specimens of Schlumbergera russelliana which I identified thanks to the form of their stems, but also to one flower, alas too remote to be photographed, and which I could only admire through binoculars.

I talked with people living in the area, and they ensured me that in December or January, it abundantly rained and that it was not rare that the night temperature fell slightly below 32°F, with formation of hoarfrosts. I would never have believed that Schlumbergera could resist simultaneously to such a moisture and so low temperatures.
