OPENING OF TWO BLOOMS
Weberocereus tonduzii is an epiphytic cactus with triangular stems native to Costa Rica. I bought it in 1998 from an English producer and I have been growing it since this time. The plant grows well but had never given any flower. To my great surprise, this 2011 spring I obtained two blooms which both achieved complete blossoming. Waiting (for 13 years) had been worth it !
I photographed the various stages of the evolution of the two blooms, whose blossoming lasts only one night, at the end of which the blooms fade for good. Blossoming is very scented, the fragrance is heady. The photographs are taken over an approximately 3-week period.
The two blooms were photographed under slightly different conditions of luminosity.
