Disocactus y Epiphyllum son dos géneros compuestos por especies botánicas.

Las palabras "Epiphyllum híbrido" constituyen un abuso del lenguaje del que hay que ser consciente.
"Epiphyllum" es un género de cactus epífitos botánicos. "Epiphyllum híbrido" sólo es consistente para el cruce de dos o más Epiphyllum. Pero sucede que, en el pedigrí de un Epiphyllum híbrido, a veces hay varios géneros: Epiphyllum, Disocactus, Selenicereus, Heliocereus, Hylocereus, y puede ser otros más. Incluso puede ser que el pedigrí de un Epiphyllum híbrido no contenga ningún Epiphyllum, lo que se convierte en una tontería.
Los ejemplos precisos son fáciles de encontrar en mis fotos de 2021 (ver estas páginas):
Hylocereus x stendatus 'Connie Mayer' a menudo se llama Epiphyllum x 'Connie Mayer' aunque sea un cruce entre dos Hylocereus (botánicos).
